Ephesus (Izmir)

Excursion: MAGNIFICENT EPHESUS
Today we’ll visit Ephesus, an ancient city that was dedicated to the goddess Artemis. Her temple was once considered the Seventh Wonder of the Ancient World and attracted pilgrims worshipping the female; first Cybele, then Artemis and finally the Virgin Mary. Sights include an amphitheater, the Library of Celsus, the Temple of Hadrian, the Scholastic Baths, the Lower Agora, State Agora, and Odeon. Afterwards, we’ll visit a carpet weaving center for refreshments and the opportunity to learn about carpet making before returning to the ship in Izmir.
